About Chameleon

A party game for 3 or more players sitting together, each on their own phone. Based on the card game The Chameleon by Big Potato Games. This site deals out the words and the clue order; the talking and the voting happen at the table.

Setup

What you get

Everyone sees the same card: a topic and 16 words. You also get a word of your own and a number. Press Show Word to see your word, and Hide Word before you set the phone down.

Here is the catch, and main difference from the "official" board game. One player — the chameleon — is given a different word from everybody else, and is not told about it. So nobody at the table knows who the chameleon is, not even the chameleon.

Playing a round

  1. In number order, each player says one word out loud as a clue for their own word. No repeating a clue that has already been given, and no saying a word from the grid.
  2. Once everyone has given a clue, discuss.
  3. Then everyone votes on who they think is the chameleon.
  4. If there is a tie. Whoever gave the first clue is the tie breaker.

How to win

Everyone shows their word. Whoever has the odd word was the chameleon.

Picking a clue

A vague clue keeps you safe if you turn out to be the chameleon, but a clue that is too vague might make the table suspect you. A sharp clue proves you know the word — and hangs you if your word is the odd one.
