Who goes first?

How to play

The goal: be the first to move one of your workers up onto the third level of a tower.

Setting up: each player has two workers. Whoever goes first places both of theirs on any empty squares, then the other player places theirs.

Your turn: move one of your workers, then build with it.

Moving: a worker moves one square in any direction, diagonals too, onto a square with no worker and no dome. It can climb up at most one level, and step down any number.

Building: the worker that moved then builds on a square next to where it now stands: any square without a worker or a dome, even the one it just left. Building adds a level to the tower there, up to three levels, and building on a third level caps it with a dome. Nobody can stand on a dome.

Winning: moving up onto a third level wins at once. A player who can't move on their turn loses.

Tips: click one of your workers, then a highlighted square to move it there, then a highlighted square to build on. A square marked β˜… is a winning move. Click the worker again to change your mind, or press Esc to start the move over. Undo takes back your last move, and the computer's reply. The bar above the board is the computer's estimate of each side's chance of winning, and under it, who it expects to win and in about how many moves.

The board game has a limited supply of blocks and domes. This version leaves it out: it almost never matters.
