About Wordle Solver

What is Wordle?

Wordle is a word guessing game where you have 6 attempts to guess a secret 5-letter word. After each guess, you get feedback:

• Green - The letter is correct and in the right position
• Yellow - The letter is in the word but in the wrong position
• Gray - The letter is not in the word

This solver also works really well with Quordle.

How to Use This Solver

1. Type your guess into the letter boxes
2. Click the colored squares next to each letter to set the hint (gray/yellow/green) that Wordle gave you
3. Click "Get Best Guesses" to see what word the solver recommends
4. Repeat for each guess until you solve it!

You can also use arrow keys to navigate between boxes, and Enter to submit.

How the Solver Works

Here's the algorithm:

1. Start with the list of all possible words that could still be the answer.
2. For each possible guess, determine the worst possible hint that could be returned by the Wordle game.
3. Choose the guess that minimizes this worst case.

This "minimax" approach asks: "If I'm unlucky and get the worst possible hint, which guess leaves me in the best position?"

This strategy may not be perfectly optimal in all cases, but it works pretty well in practice.
